Digital imaging services provider and manufacturer of printers and ink cartridges Canon is continuing efforts to promote green issues.

The company's director of consumer system products in India, VP Sajaveen, told Tech2 that Canon continues to work to ensure all its products are "green and eco-friendly".

A key part of this is the promotion of duplex printing, he said, noting that some 90 per cent of its laser printers and 80 per cent of its inkjet models offer duplex functionality.

Promoting this technology helps to reduce total paper usage and waste.

Besides this, the company has expanded its Green Cycle program in India, offering people the chance to drop off their used ink cartridges for recycling.

As well as this, the manufacturer has created three centres where individuals can drop off their old printers for proper disposal.

Both businesses and individuals can improve their own green efforts by taking steps to reduce wastage and enhance recycling options. Doing so can help to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in landfill, while certain parts from products can also be used again.
