Users of Canon inkjet cartridges and printers are sure to welcome news that the company is supporting earthquake relief efforts in New Zealand.

The company is donating thousands of pounds to aid workers who are helping survivors of the recent natural disaster in Christchurch.

"We hope that the region will soon be able to begin the rebuilding and healing process," it commented.

Canon also extended its "heartfelt" condolences to everybody who has been affected by the quake, which hit the city on February 22nd.

The British Red Cross is among the organisations from around the world providing aid relief in New Zealand in the wake of the tragedy.

According to the organisation, the quake injured about 2,500 people and killed approximately 100.

In addition, the British Red Cross noted that there is "widespread destruction" in Christchurch, with roads, bridges and buildings severely damaged.

The earthquake measured 6.3 on the richter scale.
