People who are considering buying a new printer should account for the price of ink cartridges before making their decision, according to one expert.

Writing in PCAdvisor, Rosemary Hattersley claimed those shopping around for devices on behalf of a business should pay close attention to what sort of ink cartridges various models use and advised people to look deeper than the initial price.

"Don't get stung by buying a cheap new model that will cost a lot to keep in ink," she warned.

The expert explained how buying separate ink cartridges for each colour can save money, as it avoids having to invest in a complete set of colours if only one has run out. She also recommended high-yield varieties.

An ideal choice could be any model by Lexmark, which is the only company on the market that includes a high-yield black ink cartridge with its products, according to a recent review by cnet.com's Justin Yu.
