Casual photographers looking to use ink supplies to print out their best shots may like to consider the Canon Ixus 230 HS when looking for a high-quality compact camera.

Nik Rawlinson of CNet UK noted the design of the device, which is small enough to be carried easily in a pocket, makes it extremely convenient, while still packing in a large number of features.

Meanwhile, Ben Pitt of Trusted Reviews stated it is good to find an 8x optical zoom in such a small gadget, while the three-inch screen and unusual button placements make it simple to navigate.

Both experts praised the high quality of the images the Ixus 230 HS is able to capture, with Mr Rawlinson stating the colours it produces are rich and the details extremely sharp, even on full zoom.

Mr Pitt added: "Automatic settings were virtually impossible to fault, with balanced exposures, sumptuous colours and expertly chosen settings."

The reviewers agreed that the Canon device delivers excellent performance for its small size, which led them both to award the camera a maximum rating of five stars.
