People looking to use Canon ink supplies to print out photos taken using digital cameras from the device may be interested to hear of a new model in the pipeline.

The manufacturer has announced it is developing a new concept digital SLR device to be part of its EOS line of equipment.

While it did not give exact specifications or offer a release date, the maker said it will be "ideally suited for cinematographic and other digital high-resolution production applications".

It promises to include a 35mm full-frame sensor and be capable of high-resolution video recording in addition to still photography, which it claims will provide users with "exceptional image quality and sublime imaging expression".

The announcement comes shortly after the manufacturer unveiled a new flagship printer model – the Pixma Pro-1 – that is optimised for producing photos.

It features 12 individual ink cartridges for detailed colour and monochrome output and is able to print at sizes of A3 and above.
