People looking to use printer supplies to product hard copies of their favourite shots may be interested in a new gadget from Panasonic.

The Lumix 3D1 features two wide-angle, 4x optical zoom lenses that are capable of producing still images and video in either 2D or 3D.

Senior product manager for imaging at the company Darin Pepple noted the unique twin design also allows a person to shoot high definition video on one lens while zooming in and capturing photos on the other – allowing it to create photos and video simultaneously.

"Panasonic continues to lead the industry in 3D entertainment, giving consumers the opportunity to create their own content and then view it within their homes," Mr Pepple continued.

The Lumix 3D2 offers a resolution of 12 megapixels for 2D photos and eight megapixels for three-dimensional options, while its compact design should make it convenient to carry around.

It is not the only new entrant in Panasonic's camera range, as this week the maker also revealed the new Lumix GX1, which offers a 16 megapixel sensor to capture detailed images even in low light conditions.
