Printer supplies maker Samsung has unveiled a new competition to showcase the works of some of the country's most tech-savvy contemporary artists.

A total of ten UK-based media artists have been shortlisted for the Samsung Art+ prize, which is to be awarded at a ceremony on January 25th.

All the competing works will be on display at the BFI Southbank from January 18th to 29th.

Managing director of Samsung UK and Ireland David Song said: "The UK has a thriving contemporary art scene comprised of aspiring and established media artists."

He added the company is pleased to be supporting the award, as developing innovative technologies and nurturing new talent are among the firm's top priorities.

The judging panel for the Samsung Art+ prize will include arts editor at the Financial Times Jan Dalley, chairman and chief executive of the ZKM Centre for Art and Media Dr Peter Weibel and New York based media artist Sooja Kim.

Recently, Samsung was named as one of the most reliable printer brands on the market, along with Brother and Canon.
