Photographers using ink supplies to print off their best snaps may be interested in a new mirrorless camera design from Pentax Ricoh.

The K-01 offers a 16 megapixel sensor and a high-resolution three-inch LCD screen, with a body created by acclaimed contemporary designer Marc Newson.

Mr Newson has produced a range of objects ranging from furniture and household products to aircraft and yachts and has seen his work exhibited at New York's Museum of Modern Art.

He has now turned his attention to the K-01, which will be available in black, white or the designer's signature tone of yellow with his autograph logo on the underside.

The elimination of the optical viewfinder has allowed him extra freedom to create the body, while his touch is also evident in the interchangeable lenses, which the maker claims are the thinnest ever fitted to a DSLR.

Several printer supplies and imaging specialists have unveiled new camera designs in recent weeks, including Sony, Samsung and Nikon.
